About Hike Maui – Ultimate Hana Full Day Adventure
Set out before sunrise for a road trip along Maui's legendary Hana Highway, a ribbon of 600 curves and nearly 60 bridges that winds past sea cliffs, waterfalls and tropical valleys. Your guide handles the driving while you watch waves crash against black lava shoreline and learn how this remote coast shaped island culture. After about 2.5 hours on the road you reach Kipahulu in Haleakala National Park, the trailhead for the celebrated Pipiwai Trail.
The hike meanders beneath massive banyan trees, skirts clear streams and then enters a towering bamboo forest where stems knock together like giant wind chimes. Farther on, the forest opens to reveal a 45 foot cascade followed by a 200 foot veil and finally majestic Waimoku Falls plunging 400 feet down a lush cliff face. Cooling mist drifts through the air while your guide lays out a picnic lunch and points out native plants clinging to the gorge walls. The return hike retraces the same scenic route, and the van continues around East Maui so you complete a full circle of the island by day's end.
